The Duchess of Cambridge visits Bethlem Royal Hospital

The Duchess of Cambridge recently visited Bethlem Royal Hospital’s Mother & Baby unit, furnished with Pineapple furniture, to discuss the pressure of new mothers to appear “super happy all the time”.

The unit features a selection of our extra-challenging furniture to provide support and comfort to the women who are being treated for serious phycological issues, including those threatening suicide.

During the visit, the Duchess of Cambridge sat on one of our Magna sofas with a patient of the unit and discussed the mental health issues that surround mothers and the importance of support.

The unit also includes a sensory room to help mothers and babies spend time together in a calming space. We believe the environment and its furniture plays an important role in the treatment and support of mothers to promote wellbeing and ensure they are safe throughout their stay.

If you are furnishing a mother and baby unit, or any other mental health facility, contact our helpful sales team who can support you throughout your project and furniture needs.
