This announcement was a great outcome for a project we were proud to be a part of. Both boarding houses are situated within the picturesque grounds of Ipswich High School, located in Woolverstone, Suffolk. The Dairy House has been completely refurbished and modernised to provide a homely yet safe living space for pupils aged from Year 7 upwards.
We provided Harby cabinetry in a bespoke grey finish to the 56-bed accommodation, with locks added to provide students with a safe and secure location for their property. In the fitted single and double-vaulted student bedroom spaces, Zurich beds were chosen to provide a durable, strong solution. The practical fully welded mesh metal bed base allows air to flow and circulate which helps keep mattresses clean and dry. The Zurich beds were coupled with Vienna sprung mattress.
Student study spaces within the bedrooms were created using Harby cabinetry alongside Motif desk stations, Sonata cabinetry and noticeboards which we also provided and installed. Kava armchairs were also incorporated into these bedroom spaces, with its strong chrome skid-leg and lightweight design, and its availability in numerous bright fabric options helped it stand out against the muted interior design colour palette.
In the communal kitchen, our Touch Barstools were chosen in a vibrant yellow that contrasted against the black interior of the kitchenette. Touch Chairs were chosen alongside our Cumulus Dining Tables in anthracite to compliment the dark contemporary styling of the kitchen units. The Touch range has an easy-to-clean, one-piece seat which is ideal for educational environments and offers an easy stackable chair option to allow for easy storage.
Our heavyweight Cumulus range was chosen for both dining and coffee tables, the rounded edge ensures safety, and its high-pressure laminate top ensures it is an ideal option for high-levels of use. The wheelchair accessible nature of the table supported the aims and ethos of Ipswich High School, recognising and valuing the individuality and needs of each pupil.
Our Smile Chairs offers a joyful seating option whose unique shape provides privacy and comfort. Its use in a communal space allows students the choice of privacy or social inclusion which is also provided by our Snug modular seating sofa range.
Additional lounge and quiet rooms, feature our Ohio seating and coffee tables. The ski design of Ohio allows for easy manoeuvrability alongside protecting the floor. The design of the units can be used individually or in multiples making it even easier to adapt to the space.
Contessa Foam Shapes and Boden Bean Bags were also chosen to provide additional seating in these spaces. Always popular within educational environments they provide a strong yet comfortable space for students to relax or study.
These choices can also be seen in the Cinema Room space. Our popular Snug sofa was chosen in a deep red for this space, using the individual modular units to create a corner sofa. Contessa and Boden were chosen for these spaces, offering flexibility, as the arrangements can be refigured to suit the needs of the user.
