Pineapple was recently chosen to provide furniture for the redevelopment of Langham Oaks school. Situated on the outskirts of Colchester, in Essex. Langham Oaks School is an SEMH Academy, which provides education and boarding accommodation for up to 75 boys between the ages of 10 and 16 years with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Our Acumen Grey bedroom range was chosen to provide a strong yet contemporary feel to the student’s bedroom spaces. The inset handle, rounded edges and piano hinge design of the Acumen range reduces risk of harm. Acumen is heavily weighted to deter misuse, an enclosed underside ensures areas of concealment are minimised, making this range ideal for challenging environments. The school chose to add the lockable options to the beside cabinetry, allowing the students to protect their valuables.
Creating a welcoming, homely, nurturing, yet safe and structured environment is key to improving student’s behaviour. Our thoughtfully designed Acumen range can help make any space feel like home, which can benefit the wellbeing of the children.
Ryno® dining chairs used in the bedroom areas show the Ryno® range is a versatile seating solution that can be used throughout a variety of different spaces and not just for use in dining areas.
In the kitchen area, Nexus dining chairs were chosen as the bracing on the chair offers durability and strength. Canterbury dining tables are a substantial traditional looking table which has been strength and stability tested for demanding environments without looking institutional.
For the lounge and dining room areas, our Orr seating range has a slim arm and overall compact design to optimise available space. Harby bookcases and Harby coffee tables offers a robust, sturdy furniture option, with its open-sided design the Harby coffee table is able to be used as a games/TV storage station.
Additional reception areas use our Snug modular seating to create a comfortable solution that can be used in a wide range of configurations.
We were proud to be part of this project, helping the client to achieve their goal of creating safe environments which protect and enhance the wellbeing of students.
