“It’s not just that it’s a massive improvement in looks, it’s also how strong its construction is behind the scenes so we know it will last. Pineapple have really turned it around for us, showing us a better way of creating space and getting value for money…”

HMS Drake’s large-scale refurbishment of Royal Marine accommodation has transformed living spaces for personnel from cramped and institutional to welcoming and durable. Pineapple Contracts, the leading furniture manufacturer for challenging environments in the UK, completed the project in tight timescales and to cost by focussing on maximising the confined space and creating a high-quality finish to the exacting standards required by the client.

Pineapple, on contract with the MOJ/ HMPPS/ HMTCS as a preferred furniture supplier, worked closely with the MOD and Interserve Defence through a careful planning process to design solutions which would be able to withstand unpredictable behaviours.

Taking advantage of more than 40 years of experience designing for challenging environments, Pineapple bespoke manufactured each piece, made-to-measure to the exact room plans, with a cherry wood finish selected by the client’s interior designer. A fully vetted installation team ensured that the highest quality standards were met to the very last detail, which has resulted in 74 rooms having a complete face-lift.

Steve Green, Interserve Defence Assistant Commercial Manager, was delighted with the result and has continued to make further refurbishment plans with Pineapple.
