The Boden Donut Rocker was designed in association with Jason Beshore, Health Principal at HDR Architecture.
As part of his work designing behavioral health spaces, he noted patients selfsoothing by rocking back and forth on the floor rather than using rocking chairs available to them. After talking to care providers and conducting research to learn more, Jason presented a concept to us.
Our product design team set to work bringing this concept into reality, creating a prototype which was trialed in a live environment.
The Rocker is designed to provide gentle, controllable vestibular stimulation, helping to comfort and calm those in crisis.
The shape, size and softness of the product also offer tactile (touch) and proprioceptive (sense of body positioning) inputs which provide a supportive feeling of reassuring wrap-around contact.
